Access key

The Access Key is a random string of computer-generated letters that you have to read and reproduce in the designated text field. If you cannot see the letters, please make sure that your cookies are activated and that security settings on your computer are configured at a minimal level.

Cookie

A cookie is a piece of data stored on your computer tied to user information. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site.

We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. The session ID cookie is terminated once the user closes its browser while the persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the hard drive for an extended period of time. They can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions.

It is critical that you enable cookies to access our network. Disabling them can hamper your access to the sites or certain features. For example, it may prevent the access key to be properly displayed.

Session

A session is the period of time that a user with a unique IP address spends on our network. This period extends from the login to the exit of our network.

For security reasons, every user has a unique session attributed to its IP address. We do not allow multiple sessions for a user and we actively monitor network activity for such events. If we detect that multiple IP addresses are logged into our network with a same username and password at the same time, we will block the access.

However, other factors can explain why multiple IP addresses are detected. For example, if you open multiple windows to log in and your IP address changed, you can get blocked. In these cases we can simply reset your password.

Firewall

A firewall is simply a program or hardware device that filters the information coming through the Internet connection into your private network or computer system. If an incoming packet of information is flagged by the filters, it is not allowed through.

Sometimes, firewalls are configured to be a little bit too strict and can block your access to certain sites. This is why we sometimes recommend disabling your firewall to access our network.

Trial

Under certain conditions, the company allows its affiliates or itself to sell 2-day limited trials to our network. These trials allow potential customers to fully browse our member sections and evaluate the quality of our product. However, access to our content is restricted to either the first or first two parts of every video scene. If the customer has not cancelled his account before the trial’s expiration, it will transform into a full 30-day membership. The remaining 30 days will be billed at $39.95.

Top

Rebill

A 2-day trial bought for $2.95 on January 1st 2006 will renew itself as a 30-day membership at $39.95 after 2 days. This represents the price of a full 30 days. The membership will rebill 30 days after January 1st 2006 for $39.95. This cycle will continue every 30 days, until the customer cancels.

Top

Expiry date

Our memberships are valid for a fixed period of time: 2-day trials, 30-day memberships and 90-day memberships. The last day of the relevant period is considered the expiry date. If the membership is not cancelled before the expiry date, it will be renewed automatically and the new expiry date will mark the date where your access will be removed.

Membership

A membership on Pornstar Network is valid for a fixed amount of time. Right now, we offer 2-day trials, 30-day memberships, 90-day memberships and 1 year membership. Every one of them are rebilled (automatically renewed) at their expiry date.

SSL

The Secure Socket Layers (SSL) protocol has proven itself to be very efficient. SSL is designed to make use of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) as a communication layer to provide a reliable end-to-end secure and authenticated connection between two points over a network (for example between the service client and the server). It uses an encryption key to prevent sensitive information from being intercepted and a digital certificate to establish a user’s credentials.

Top

Subscription number

Depending on the transaction merchant, subscription number can also be called a member ID. This is a unique number assigned to every member in their system. It is very important you keep this number to manage your membership.

Top

Cache

Often referred to as the cache, the Temporary Internet Files folder contains items you have seen, heard, or downloaded from the Web, such as images, sounds, Web pages or cookies.

Storing these files in your cache can make browsing the Web faster because it usually takes your computer less time to display a Web page when it can call up some of the page's elements or even the entire page from your local Temporary Internet Files folder.

However, your cache can also end up storing an outdated page and this is why we recommend that you clear your browser’s cache when encountering errors.

Top

Flash

Flash is a proprietary technology of Macromedia, used to build interactive experiences for surfers. In order to be able to view Flash content, surfers must download a plug-in for their browser. Flash is used on our tours, live shows and extras.

Top

Video encoding

After editing our videos, we have to encode them so they can be viewed on the internet by softwares such as Windows Media Player or QuickTime. Our videos are encoded in 2 file formats (MPG and WMV) and with various video bit rates. These differences allow multiple users to view our content, independently of platforms and connection speeds.

Top

Chargeback

A chargeback happens when a customer complains directly to its credit card company that he never passed or authorized a transaction. If you believe an illegal transaction has been made on your card, our transaction merchants have fair and transparent procedures to offer. Unjustified chargebacks can prevent a customer to join a site and can even lead to prosecution for fraud.

Top

Money order

If you wish to pay by mail, money orders are safer than personal checks or plain cash in an envelope. Money orders are also pre-paid and cannot bounce. It’s like a certified check, but with amount limits. Money orders are available through certain postal services, like the USPS or financial service companies, such as banks.

Top

Online check

The company offers its US customers the possibility to join our network via one of our transaction merchants, WTS bank, who collects membership fees from your checking account. This option includes the initial purchase and following rebills. It’s a very convenient way to join our network if you do not own a credit card.

Top

Extras

Members have access to a protected section called Extras, composed of streaming videos or content provided by third parties. No username or passwords are required to access them. In most cases, you won’t be able to download them. Since this service is provided by third-parties, we may not be able to guarantee their customer support.

Top

Password sharing

Transferring or giving your username and password to non-customers so they can access our network is a violation of our terms and conditions.

Top

Video bit rate

The number of bits transferred per unit of time, typically expressed in bits per second.

Top

Video buffer

An area of computer memory reserved to temporarily hold data before it is used on the receiving computer. Video buffering protects against the interruption of data flow. A low-speed connection to the internet can lead to interruptions in the video streaming. In order to prevent such interruptions, you can try to view content encoded with a lower video bit rate or save the video on your computer.

Top

IP address

Every computer that communicates over the Internet is assigned an IP address that uniquely identifies the device and distinguishes it from other computers on the Internet. It is assigned by your internet service provider (ISP). Some providers use dynamic IPs, which means your IP changes every time you connect to the web. With other providers, such as cable operators, your connection is constant and you retain the same IP. Firewalls and routers can also affect your IP address.

Top

Transaction merchant

All memberships on our sites are billed by third-party merchants, such as CCBill, Jettis, Paycom or WTS. These are well-established companies that have dealt with adult and mainstream transactions for numerous years. Their expertise enabled them to build solid and secure billing systems for their clients. They are the final authority on billing issues in our network. The company never even sees your credit card number.

Top

Member section

The member sections are password-protected web pages where we give customers access to our content.
